Publisher Description

Sparks fly when an occult expert and a disgraced archeologist become enemies-with-benefits in this steamy romance from "go-to author" Rosie Danan (The New York Times Book Review).

Riley Rhodes finally has the chance to turn her family’s knack for the supernatural into a legitimate business when she’s hired to break the curse on an infamous Scottish castle. Used to working alone in her alienating occupation, she's pleasantly surprised to meet a handsome stranger upon arrival—until he tries to get her fired.

Fresh off a professional scandal, Clark Edgeware can’t allow a self-proclaimed “curse breaker” to threaten his last chance for redemption. After he fails to get Riley kicked off his survey site, he vows to avoid her. Unfortunately for him, she vows to get even.

Riley expects the curse to do her dirty work by driving Clark away, but instead, they keep finding themselves in close proximity. Too close. Turns out, the only thing they do better than fight is fool around. If they’re not careful, by the end of all this, more than the castle will end up in ruins.

“This was a really cute book with alot of site and spice! I really loved the aspect of the curse and the puzzle pieces that were found throughout the story to break it. Overall I really enjoyed this one☺️”
“I wish I could have enjoyed this book more because I really liked the premise, but the everything really fell flat. Both main characters are extremely immature and act like teenagers for most of the story, so it’s hard to take their romance or anything else seriously. It’s not enemies to lovers, they meet in a bar and immediately want to sleep with each other. After that it’s basically barely concealed lust for the rest of the book while they intentionally try to hurt one another which just reads as stupid and petty. Then all of a sudden, they are in love and run off together to be curse breakers. I also wish we’d learned more about the actual curse and what happened to Phillipa and Malcom because their story was way more interesting than what was going on with Clark and Riley. There is barely any paranormal or magical elements in the story and at most the curse is just a device to force the romance between the two main characters and encourage them to get over their “hatred” of each other. This is maybe just a me thing, but I do think it’s weird the book is set in Scotland when neither main character is Scottish? It seems like a missed opportunity and we didn’t get enough of Scottish history or culture to really make the setting significant. Also, I listened to the audiobook and the male narrator doing Riley’s voice made her sound even more insufferable than she probably is if you just read the book, so I wouldn’t recommend this on audiobook.”
