Why read on Fable?
Publisher Description
"A combination of the mystical, magical, and marvelous, Sequoia Nagamatsu weaves a collection of bold, hysterical, and moving tales into an unforgettable debut. From shape-shifters, to star-makers, to babies made of snow, the characters in WHERE WE GO WHEN ALL WE WERE IS GONE form a community of longing, of the surreal, of wonder. What a joy it is to read each and every story."

“While I could't as easily find the through line between these stories as I could with "How High We Go in the Dark," I still found the stories in this book just as beautiful. I especially enjoyed the Girl Zero story and the one about the dancers. Nagamatsu does a great job of creating a completely plausible world in which kaiju and yokai just happen to exist. Everything he writes is so believable, and I really hope he has a new work coming out soon.”

“This book was recommended to me as a horror anthology based around Japanese folk lore, so I was holy unprepared for it to be such a beautiful and hopeful book about death a grief.”
