Fable Community Guidelines
Aug 11 2021
When you read a book on Fable, you are reading along with real people who are sharing their thoughts, feelings, and dreams. Their commentary can help you see the world around you in new ways or discover a new perspective on your own life.As our community grows, we’ve crafted a few simple and clear Fable Community Guidelines to keep our book clubs supportive and safe.
Public and Private Book Clubs: Which Is Right for You?
The great novelist James Baldwin once described the power of books to connect us and share experiences:You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.
We want to maintain a warm, inclusive, and safe place for people to share the books they love, as well as discuss the pain, heartbreak, and other deep emotions they feel while reading. At Fable, you can create two kinds of book clubs: public or private.Public book clubs are open for all Fable users to join. Public book club moderators are responsible for reviewing all users’ posts made inside a public club. Fable admins may also review posts, as needed.Once reviewed, any public club content in violation can be removed at the moderator or Fable admin’s discretion, and a user may be removed from a public club for violating the Fable Community Guidelines. In addition, public clubs that violate Fable Community Guidelines may be made private or removed from Fable. In contrast, private book club members must be invited by the club moderator and must accept the invitation in order to participate. Fable admins do not review content in a private club unless it potentially violates the law or threatens the life or safety of a user, so such violations must be reported. In private clubs, Fable moderators exercise their own judgment about when and how to use their moderator powers to uphold the trust and safety of their community.Fable Guidelines For Public And Private Book Clubs
