Do you like monster romances?

user post featured pic
The recent release of Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” has many people talking about the allure of monsters and monster romances. This adaptation seems to have the most lovable version of the doctor’s creation yet. Or does audiences’ love of the monster say more about our current state in life? Some believe that monster romances between a woman and a male monster are appealing because the monster holds a mirror up to a woman’s horrors and her experiences as an individual in a patriarchal society. Monster romances are physical representations of the exile of otherness and the tenderness that occurs when one chooses to love the beast. There’s an understanding and embracing of the otherness and ugliness that society rejects. What do you think of monster romances? What are your favorite monster romances?
