What’s a good book to read when falling asleep?

Some books are just meant to be read at bedtime. Personally, I keep a print copy of “Flights” by Olga Tokarczuk beside my bed because I find her prose so quiet and soothing. It’s a fragmented collection, so I can start reading anywhere and just read enough to calm my mind before sleeping. I asked the rest of the Fable editorial team to tell me what books they like to read while falling asleep. Add your own suggestions in the comments! Desiree Worrall-Belanger: I love keeping a manga or graphic novel volume on my nightstand at all times. Since they’re far lighter, at least text-wise, it makes for an easy read before bed (and when I wake up, too!) One of my current favorites would have to be “A Sign of Affection” by Suu Morishita. I’ve been looking forward to Saturday evenings, too, since there’s a new episode of the anime released every week!  Cameron Capello:  As a kid who used to read the Goosebumps series before bed, I don’t think my opinion is trustworthy. However, I have been enjoying historical romances in hopes they’ll infiltrate my dreams so I can be a dutchess, even if only in the subconscious. I just finished “The Devil in Winter” by Lisa Kleypas and was swooning from page one.  Hayley Dennings: Poetry books really work for me at night. Something about the shorter sections and feeling like I’m delving into art helps me feel inspired and puts me in a better mood. I’d recommend one of my favorite poets, Audre Lorde, who wrote about various issues relating to sexuality, gender, and race in such gripping ways. Alex Posey: Usually I just continue reading whatever my current book is at bedtime, but if I’m having trouble sleeping, I bring out the big guns: histories. I picked up Chris Wickham’s “Medieval Europe” in France last summer, and have been ever-so-slowly making my way through it—especially at bedtime.
