Let me be honest—Freida McFadden’s books are kind of like junk food. You know they’re not exactly “good,” but you just can’t stop. The Tenant is no exception. Now, are the characters annoying? Yes. Are the plot twists absolutely bonkers? Also yes. But there’s this addictive quality to McFadden’s writing—once you start, you have to know what happens next. Her books are the perfect palate cleanser when you’re in a reading slump or just need something fast-paced and unpretentious. I wouldn’t call The Tenant “good” in a traditional sense, but it’s wildly entertaining, easy to devour, and exactly what I needed for a no-pressure read.

I wouldn’t describe it to be the greatest thriller of all time but definitely one of frieda’s best works. And trust me this absolutely lands above The housemaid

I have never cried over a book the way I did reading this one. I actually cried guys, I mean ugly face and tears billowing down and runny nose and face in the blanket to soak in my tears. Why would you go and do that now, Holly? This will stand the test of time for me. The last book I remember properly crying over was over a decade ago and that was ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green. Do you guys remember how we all cried? Yeah, well, I cried more for this book. I have so much to say, I absolutely loved everything about this book. I loved everything about it. I haven’t read characters written like this in so long. I don’t want to say anything about the mystery because I don’t want anyone who hasn’t read it try to solve it before actually enjoying the book. So go enjoy the book and cry and ugly cry (because you will). Umm, yeah I’m just- I need a moment. Man, sigh. I usually get my books from the library but this one I preordered (I don’t buy books unless I read them over and over again and want to annotate them). I am so glad I bought this book. I love Holly Jackson’s books and I had trust in her to go and buy this one. So worth it. So worth it. I have over dozen library books laying around in my room but I chose this book to read in the midst of them all. A book that will live in my shelves and in my heart. I’ll try to breathe now.
