“Interesting in theory but doesn’t ever tie together into something cohesive. The final “twist” at the end, while certainly unexpected, actually just makes the whole thing feel pointless. The novella portion was the most interesting but was severely underwritten in plot and craft. I think it could’ve been a good novella on its own had he fleshed it out a bit more (pun-intended).”

“Not what I expected! I think it was pretty good, kinda interesting and a quick read, really nice prose and not too flowery writing... mostly. I like weird shit, and this was weird, but not THAT weird.
I liked the ultimate reveal of the actual story being patchwork. It makes the novella make more sense. The Martyr-Ambrose conversations were low-key insufferable, but they felt realistic.. annoyingly realistic. They were some high-brow-wannabe holier than thou motherfuckers. I wanna square up with them.
I will be reading more, however; I have multiple Eric LaRocca books on my TBR.”Start a Book Club
