“While the prose is well written the plot was disappointing. The story was moved forward by characters not speaking to one another, more than it was by event or character based action. The twist at the end was somewhat predictable, but not too bad until the final pages where it became incredibly obvious and the pacing slowed to draw it out.
The story also at first appeared to be going in the direction of talking about child athletes, and the way that parents can project their goals onto their children, but then this was forgotten near the end and not brought up again. The question I had at the end was what the point? Because everything was booked, seemed like it was trying to say fell apart.”
