You Deserve Each Other

By Sarah Hogle
You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

When your nemesis also happens to be your fiancé, happily ever after becomes a lot more complicated in this wickedly funny, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy debut.

Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They’re preparing for their lavish wedding that's three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him.

Naomi wants out, but there's a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare.

But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they're finally being themselves—and having fun with the last person they expect: each other.

“Reread: God I think I loved this even more on reread. It’s so uniquely satisfying and Naomi’s voice is so addictive and cathartic to me. I can see where someone would be annoyed by her inner monologue, but I think it’s real and amazing to hear actual human thoughts that are not always linear, responsible, or reliable. There are tons of great moments where I’m excited for the characters or obsessed with the current revenge plot and I love watching their friendship and bond grow amid their own misery and self doubt. There were two distinct moments near the end of the book where something stuck out to me that I actually wanted to highlight and that is so rare for me. Even with the silly, hilarious writing style, there are some real gems and lessons to be learned that any couple can relate to. Sometimes the transformation is the best part. Original Review: Sarah Hogle is maybe the funniest romance author ever. I laughed out loud and my cheeks actually hurt from smiling so much reading this. I adored the antics and pranks. I know this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but this worked for me. I am a huge fan of relationship in distress. It feels more real than regular romance and the intense feelings of apathy and hurt in the beginning make the love so much more epic when the characters fall again. Plus, you really have to root for them. The work put in is more rewarding and less boring than a regular romance. But, I felt like Naomi could have had a little more personality. I don’t really know anything about her or her backstory and that was a little frustrating. Overall, I can’t believe this was a debut because it was so fantastically unique and I loved it.”
