Ghostling

By Ash Harrier
Ghostling by Ash Harrier digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Mimi's never been afraid of ghosts. It's humans that freak her out.

Etherall Valley Academy. It's an elite school for students facing "unique challenges" – so there's going to be drama.

Mimi's unique challenge is her trio of invisible companions, but nobody can know about that. Her plan is to blend in, keep her head down, and simply survive her final year at this new high school.

That's until she's selected for the school's gifted program. It's a class like no other: seven very different teens with talents Mimi never suspected. Among them is bookish Drew, dark and solitary behind his facade of spikes, piercings and dramatic makeup. He barely looks at Mimi, and yet she always has a sense he's watching her.

Their mentor says their gathering is a convergence of their powers – that they must learn to use their gifts in balance and connection – but that's not easy when secrets, rivalries and desires are in play.

Mimi just needs to survive her final year of high school. Literally.

Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“Ghostling is a YA paranormal and totally worth the read if you’re looking for a ‘superpower’ teens fix. A little background for this story, too. A decade ago, Harrier (aka S.D. Wasley) published The Seventh (in fact, it was a 3-book series), and she recently got her rights back to do a rewrite and self-publish. The Seventh is now called Ghostling, and this beautiful cover is the end result of Harrier’s re-work and vision for the series! She will soon follow up with Book 2 (Darkling) and Book 3 (Deathling) – bonus points: she’s an Australian author! The story: Etherall Valley Academy is an elite school for students facing ‘unique challenges’, and Mimi’s unique challenge is her trio of invisible companions, but nobody can know about that. Her plan is to blend in, keep her head down, and simply survive her final year at this new high school. That is until she’s selected for the school’s gifted program, but it’s a class like no other: seven very different people with talents Mimi never suspected. Their mentor says their ‘class’ is a convergence of their powers, but that’s not easy when secrets, rivalries, and desires are in play. Ghostling was an incredibly enjoyable read and will certainly appeal to its YA audience. Easy to read, easy to comprehend, and your young reader will definitely be able to relate to at least one of the characters. There’s heartbreak, there’s adventure, and it kept me engaged the whole way through. I was really rooting for Mimi in this story, and can’t wait for Darkling to come out later this year. This is dark academia for youth and is definitely a page turner. There are some content warnings for parents: family violence, cult themes, attempted abduction, paranormal themes, and occasional swearing.”
“This is an amazing YA where we follow Mimi who can see ghosts. The story takes place in Etherall Valley academy and is the first book out of two. It has everything you want in this kind of story. Suspense, intense scenes, love interest, mystery, premonitions and so much more. I loved the world building, the character development and the pace of the book. It kept me on my seat and yes. I had to finish just one more chapter around 3am the day I picked it up. I absolutely loved it and I cant wait to read the sequel. Because I need to know what is gonna happen to Mimi and her friends.”

About Ash Harrier

Ash Harrier is an award-winning author of dark academia, paranormal romance and mystery novels.

Ever since she was a child, she's been wondering what lies beneath ... behind the veil, beyond the grave and beneath the ordinary. Her fascination sometimes tips over into fear, but more than anything, she has a feverish desire to know.

Having struggled against being "quiet" and invisible all her life, she's now slightly obsessed with writing about characters who seem mediocre or even withdrawn - but who have extraordinary secret talents.

Ash also writes general fiction as Sasha Wasley. She lives in Western Australia with her family and a ridiculous number of pets.
