Publisher Description

Fate can be cruel.

Alexius has been ignored for centuries. He's quietly taken the blame for his sister's death and simply tries to get by unnoticed, until his heart won't let him ignore his mate. Will she bring him closer to his family or pull him away?

Aexie is trying to figure out why she's turned into a raging, angry dragon that can't express what she wants to while not letting her anxiety control her.

Jaxon fights to decide how best to keep the family together or if he should just give up and travel the world.

Xerus is learning to navigate the ancient love of his life and run the kingdom he's been brought up to rule.

As siblings grow up, their duties to themselves clash with their responsibilities to their family and realm. Mysterious attacks force them to put the kingdom first and work together. They need to figure out who the culprit is before their entire realm falls.

Will they come together or will they abandon their duties and watch their kingdom fall to evil?

“Soxkendi is from the Danish word “søskende,” meaning “siblings.” This was a beautiful story about grief and family set in a world of dragons and other mythical beings. I was enchanted by the world and the magic found within it. While Alexius feels like the focus of this story, we get POVs from everyone in the soxkendi - Xerus, Aexie, and Jaxon. I love how this mental bond brings these siblings closer and now wish I had this myself with my own siblings who live far away from me. While it is a story about dragons, I love that they also can shift into human forms and they have magic that allows for some rooms in the palace to shift in size to accommodate their dragon forms. The magic of the world is nebulous in the sense of Gandalf in Lord of the Rings - it feels somewhat limitless in terms of what can be done and not much cost is associated with its use except tiring out the user. However, there are certain uses that show up a lot and we can see how some characters are better with specific types of magic. It is an emotional coming-of-age story for Alexius, a character in Camilla Tracy’s Threads of Magic trilogy. I have not read this series yet and I was still able to fall in love with the characters, even without the context of this series as this is a prequel. I will now need to add this series to my TBR. Some of my favorite quotes: “My mother’s rule was that we all had to spend at least three hours a day reading a book in the library.” - Aexie “But the moment I’m with him, there’s a… a ringing in my core. It’s like two bells that have been struck at different times that still find a way to resonate together.” - Xerus “This hand and everything attached to it is precious to me. I’d hate to see harm come to it.” - Alexius “I’d never been interested in casual dalliances like Aexie. I just didn’t understand. If they didn’t mean anything, why have them at all?” - Jaxon Thank you to Rockstar Tours and Camilla Tracy for the gifted copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.”
