A masterpiece of imaginative fiction, Wuthering Heights (the author's only novel) remains as poignant and compelling today as it was when first published in 1847.

“"Wuthering Heights" is definitely a book I was scared to read for years. This book is SO hyped as a Bucket List Classic, something everyone must try. It's also hyped as an inspiration to countless books, movies, even songs! I was so worried that if I tried this book I would not like it, and therefore felt left out of what everyone else saw in it.
I'm so glad I finally decided to give it a try. Of course, I was well warned that this book is NOT a romance as it is often advertised to be. That being said, I was glad I read the book because of Emile Bronte's absolutely brilliant work with characters, and with her impressive ability to weave so many character arcs together over the course of decades. This was written during a very depressing time period in which most people died very young. Emily Bronte embraced this, but she also gave her characters very full lives for the short time (most of them) had. We aren't supposed to like many of the characters, it's true, but we can relate to many of the goals in this story: desperation to leave a legacy, defiance of societal expectations, loving someone who isn't a positive influence for you. Even centuries later, there are so many themes in this book that are still very relatable today and that is why I enjoyed this book so much.”Sam
