Meet the Sinister-Winterbottoms: brave Theo, her timid twin, Alexander, and their older sister, Wil. “I was so confused reading this book! I’m so sorry to be giving a middle grade such a low rating but I felt so distant from the characters and the story-from beginning to end. There was no background to anyone or anything, no world building, we were clueless the whole way through. I didn’t know what to feel for who, and which strangeness was a clue, and which was only the idiosyncrasy of the characters. In the end I felt like I was coming off of one of the water slide attractions with a disheveled head and mind.
I’m not sure if I’d be interested in continuing the series, but if you’re okay with what I shared, and would like to give this a try, go ahead. It did have some Addams Family vibes for sure, I just wish that it gave me a bit more on the background while telling the story.”

“Fun, but ultimately very confusing. There was a point in reading where I had to just turn my brain off and let things play out because I just could not wrap my head around why, when, or where there kids were or what was happening. It had a very surreal, A Series of Unfortunate Events vibe going on. I am super curious about their parents and why things are playing out the way that they are, I’m hoping that we’ll have some context as the series continues.”
