When I think of dystopian, my mind automatically goes to The Hunger Games or Divergent, the true Queens of the genre, so I’m always a little hesitant going into new ones. It took me a bit to pick this up because I wasn’t sure it would live up to those expectations, and while it didn’t completely wow me, it also didn’t disappoint either.
I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece, but it was definitely interesting enough to keep me reading. The beginning was a little slow, and there were moments where the characters got on my nerves, which made it harder to fully connect at times. I also felt like it leaned more into adult themes than I expected for a YA dystopian, which threw me off a bit.
It kind of sits in that middle ground. It had some solid ideas and kept my attention, but didn’t fully reach its potential. Not amazing, not terrible, just a decent read.”

Ya know, comparing that I DESPISE multi POV books, this was really fun. This was so fast paced and interesting I struggled to put it down ♥️
The first section of the book was so good I couldn’t stop. Everything with the academy hooked me. The second part kinda fell flat for me, but that last section 🤤
