Publisher Description

Warrior. Survivor. Daughter of the North.

From the moment she is born, Brighid fights to survive in the wastelands of Nordica as a clanless one. But when a new power arrives offering a trial to join the Nordic warriors, Brighid enters, hoping to rise above her station. Soon she becomes one of their fiercest fighters and joins the war against the south.

Kaeden carries the blood of the ancient Eldaran race in his veins but turns away from his heritage after the death of his parents. Years later, he is called back to his homeland and invited to be a healer for the southern forces. With the help of an old mentor, the power inside of him starts to awaken. However, his life is turned upside down when a mighty warrior of the Nordic forces is captured.

As Kaeden interacts with the enemy, he discovers there is a darkness behind the Nordic Wars, one that is manipulating the people of the north. But who will believe him? And is there a power strong enough to break the hold of this hidden adversary? Or will the world burn in the flames of war?

Winter's Maiden Reviews

4.0
“Beginning is a bit slow but bare with it as it gives you great information to really understanding the main character and the different people woven through her life. Very thought provoking. Immersive world building. Morgan has such a talent with interweaving faith, light and dark into her writing. To be honest I was so confused how it would be possible and was on the fence. Halfway through it finally hit me and I understood the end finished very strong and leaves you wanting more. I have gravitated towards Morgan's books as they are Christian safe and I really appreciate that. This book was a great palette cleanser from the typical novels I read. Don't pass this one up. Such an incredible book and I really appreciated the different angle she took with this one.”
“DNF Don’t get me wrong… I love Morgan L. Busse and The Ravenwood Saga is fantastic. I was really excited for Winter’s Maiden because it’s Viking-inspired and Morgan is so good at creating settings and vibes for a book. However, the first 25% felt wholly unnecessary. I didn’t know why we were following this character over several years, only to have her move on and do something completely different. I wasn’t relating to anyone, there were too many names, and it started realllyyyyy dragging at 50%. I thought it would get interesting when a new character was introduced, but for personal unnamed reasons, I couldn’t put up with him cuz he reminded me too much of people I know irl, lol. And if I’m being honest with myself, I will probably never finish this. Maybe I’ll find her other books more interesting!”
