“There is something special in that book you know anything about it and then you fell deeply in love with it. You can’t stop talking about it, you can’t stop thinking about it, you can’t stop breathing it because of how good it is. This series was that for me. And now I finished it and I don’t know what to do with myself.
Wings of Shadow was the perfect ending. Not only the perfect one for this series but one of the best final books I ever read, I have to say. It was a roller coaster of emotions and I was blown away by how beautifully wrapped up this story was. It was more than 600 pages of twists, action packed scenes, heartbreaking moments and so many tears. Oh I cried so much! But, I was also so happy that my heart melt so many times, that I think it hasn’t recover yet? Emotional damage, this book knows what that means! It was really so well done, so perfectly balanced and I still can’t believe I took so long to read it.
I will miss these characters dearly. This is one of the best casts, found families that I ever read. The depth of these characters and their relationships, even with the phoenixes, was otherworldly. I loved to met them, to see them grow and learn together… it was really one of the best experiences I had with characters. Veronyka and Tristan, Sev and Kade, Rex and Xephyra, Sparrow and Elliot, all of them, mean so much to me. I can’t wait for you all to meet them 💜

“Everything is overexplained to death to the point where no plot point is even a surprise or exciting because you've already been told it. This book didn't need so many POV characters, it didn't need people to sit around and talk about nothing for so many endless pages. There was more time spent thinking and philosophizing about things than actually doing it.
"Oh, maybe we should try to reason with Val". You mean the girl who murders without hesitation and has a literal army of creatures of darkness? Yeah, maybe not. Maybe you should just get rid of her.
"Oh, this old lady didn't actually betray us by joining Val when she had to choose between helping Val or death?" Yeah. Obviously. And in case that wasn't obvious, we get like 200 pages supporting the same idea over and over and over again.
Overall, this book and the relationships felt stagnant and unchanged since the first book. For as long as these are, I would've expected far more to have happened and for the characters to have evolved. Instead, I ended up hating Elliot and Sparrow because every time I got to one of their chapters I knew that I was about to read about nothing happening for 20 pages. These could've greatly benefitted from a heavy edit and cutting out about 80% of the internal monologues from these characters because it's far too long and far too unnecessary.”
