Many years ago my friends and I would sit around and play what we called 'Jerry Springer: the Home Game', the object of the game was to see how many upcoming shows we qualified for, with the story to support our claim, and whoever had the most at the end of the program won.
I was (and still am) the reigning champion.
It has been my sincere hope since I first began to write, that when you pick up one of my books I can make you laugh out loud, maybe roll your eyes, groan and shake your head as you eagerly turn the page, wondering where the train wreck will end. I hope this short preview will perk your interest and bring you back in the Spring of 2017, eager to continue following my (mis)adventures in living. And to that end, I invite you, dear reader, to join me on this brief ride of my roller coaster…

This is the second book by Lisa Orban that I read (see my review for https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32488652.It_ll_Feel_Better_when_it_Quits_Hurting https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1864731372 ), so I will probably repeat myself since my feelings towards her writing have not changed.
This book sort of picks up where the previous one left off in Lisa's life, overlapping sometimes. It is not necessary to read the first one before, since this one stands pretty good on its own. However, I would recommend picking both of them up. Starting this book for me was just like a reunion with old friends. I do not know any of the people featured in the stories, but "It'll feel better..." was good enough to make me feel like I did. As soon as the introduction started, I got a familiar feeling, and was drawn into this unique world once more.
This is not fiction, but more than once you will find yourself wondering if these anecdotes can actually be real, they are so shocking. I was constantly going "Are you serious....?" or "The f* just happened...". I love when a story gets these reactions from me, I feel like it is a good story if it does. And this is what Lisa does best: she makes you react in unexpected ways as you go further. I can tell you one thing: you will laugh, you will sigh in disbelief, you will shake your head and go "no no no no", and maybe even share a tear. My heart certainly sank every now and then.
In comparison to the previous book, this is just as heartbreaking and unfortunate, but it is -at least for the most part- told in a "colder" way, never lacking sarcasm and wittiness. This is Lisa Orban’s unique talent: she talks about her most miserable, heart-breaking memories, and still manages to put a smile on your face.
The writing is simple, clear and, yes, imperfect. But as I have said before, this only adds up to its honesty. Could it use another spell-check? Definitely, but don't let that put you off. There is so much more behind it. Lisa is the representation of independent, forceful, persevering, free -and, yes, flawed- women. This is what I gather from all of it.
I believe she is working on a new book and I will without a doubt be there for it too.”
