Wild Card

By Elsie Silver
Wild Card by Elsie Silver digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Sebastian Rousseau is a grumpy, hot as hell fire pilot who is too damn good with his hands.

It’s the perfect combination. But unfortunately for me, he’s also my ex-boyfriend’s dad.

A chance meeting brought us together and a missed connection has kept us apart.

One year later, a stroke of fate has us living under the same roof—which makes everything between us downright messy.

Because even after all this time, he’s still the man I think about when I fall asleep. The one I can’t get over no matter how hard I try.

He’s working on mending a fragile relationship with his son and we both know acting on these urges would be the ultimate betrayal.

But I see the heat in his eyes. That look of need that never fails to send a shiver down my spine.

The mutual longing is borderline unbearable and the simmering heat between us is downright palpable.

We both know there are rules when it comes to situations like this.

But then again…following the rules never has been my strong suit.

“~To the outside observer, it would appear that I’m staring at the guy I showed up here with. But they would be wrong. I’m staring at his dad. I love a good age-gap romance, so I was so excited to jump into this one. Wild Card follows Bash, a rugged single dad, and Gwen, a woman he shared an instant connection with years earlier… until one wrong digit led to years of missed opportunities. Fate eventually throws them back together, but there’s one tiny complication….Gwen is his son’s ex. Cue the drama. Bash is such a sweet, thoughtful man… but good grief, someone please shake this man. The constant pulling away because of his son started wearing on my patience. I understood why, but after the hundredth time it was like, “Sir… enough already.” We also get a curvy heroine with a man who absolutely worships every inch of her, and I will never complain about that. 🥹 Now let’s talk about the real MVP: Clyde. That old man completely stole the show. Every time he showed up playing matchmaker, I was grinning. He is an absolute hoot. 😂 The beginning? Top tier. One of the sweetest meet-cutes I’ve read in a while. Unfortunately, the middle got stuck in a repetitive push-and-pull cycle that had me losing interest. Thankfully, the ending pulled everything back together and left me smiling. And the raccoon scene… if you know, you know. 🦝❤️ My heart absolutely melted. Bash really is the king of thoughtful gestures. Can we also talk about his son? Whew. He tested my patience. He could learn a thing or two… or a hundred… from his dad about how to speak to and treat a woman. Overall, this was a good read, but I really wanted it to be a great one. I enjoyed it, laughed a lot thanks to Clyde, swooned over Bash’s sweet side, but the repetitive conflict kept it from being a new favorite.”
