“Fun supernatural heist fic with Gideon Sable and his crew. Really enjoyed the worldbuilding and premise, showing really varied settings and magical items. The characters, though felt flat, were fun, badass, and the type of found family type theiving crew that I love to read. Also loved most of the adversaries who were suitably formidable and varied. The story had a suitably fast pace and fight scenes were very enjoyable and descriptive, and did show why he and his team had a Reputation. That said, parts of the writing and dialogue felt clunky and as noted above, the characters felt flat. I like them, but they were written in more of a stereotypical manner that didnt go deeper into thier characters. I did find this book in my library without reading the previous copies, so I may have missed a lot of set up but I feel like I still should have been able to see more of the side characters especially and better interactions and dialogue. Also felt that it didnt pace stakes well, which made me struggle to care and note tension in certain scenes. Especially the ending reveal of what happened to Anybody since I feel like it cheapened a lot of what happened previously in the story. Despite the ending though, still a fun read, would recommend to anyone wanting an urban fantasy type of book.”
