"Stunning." --Nic Stone, bestselling author of Dear Martin and Odd One Out
You can't rewrite the past, but you can always choose to start again.
It's been twenty-seven days since Cleo and Layla's friendship imploded.
Nearly a month since Cleo realized they'll never be besties again.
Now Cleo wants to erase every memory, good or bad, that tethers her to her ex-best friend. But pretending Layla doesn't exist isn't as easy as Cleo hoped, especially after she's assigned to be Layla's tutor. Despite budding friendships with other classmates--and a raging crush on a gorgeous boy named Dom--Cleo's turbulent past with Layla comes back to haunt them both.
Alternating between time lines of Then and Now, When You Were Everything blends past and present into an emotional story about the beauty of self-forgiveness, the promise of new beginnings, and the courage it takes to remain open to love.
"Breathtakingly beautiful....Woodfolk has a way of making words sing and burst with light." --Tiffany D. Jackson, award-winning author of Monday's Not Coming and Let Me Hear A Rhyme

“This book was devastating and it absolutely nails the complicated, heartbreaking and often messy side to a friendship breakdown. It both hurt and healed my teenage self.
This young adult novel follows Cleo as she deals with a friendship breakup with childhood bestie Layla. The story is split into a then and now timeline as we get glimpses of what they were like prior and how things ended up the way the did. The author delves into the insecurities , jealousy and the way unintentionally and intentionally hurt people we care about.
There is a small side romance which is really sweet and Cleo finding her new people, ones that understand her was wonderful.
As a reader you don’t really get closure which I feel is on purposes because most friendship breakdowns it’s ends messily and you don’t get it wrapped up in a neat bow. That been said I needed Sloane to get some karma because my god.”
“i liked the book. i loved the ending a lot and i thought it was a good way to end the book, however i really struggled to read most of the book. not that it was bad i just felt like a lot of the situations could have been avoided if the main characters had just sat down and had a conversation about how they were feeling.”
“Hits close to home. Had me tearing up at the end. Friendship breakups hurt 😞”
