“This book was the contemporary romance I didn't know I needed until I read it. It's not common for me to pick-up contemporary straight romances, but I've been eyeing Amy Blythe's books for quite a while, as her plots speak directly to my inner fangirl. From the moment I opened my book, it was a roller coaster in surprises! First of all, our female lead, Kate, is bisexual. Before starting her fling with Johannes, Kate used to date Lucinda, a work colleague. I was head over heels with the naturalism of it all through the story, because that's how a love life should be: you date A, break up with B and marry C. It doesn't matter if they are all males, females or non-binary!! As if this element wasn't enough to trigger my excitement, the author's writing is so good! The story flows nicely and the sex scenes? I needed a fan, Amy knows her business around the pages! And then... I realized I was so in love with Kate and Johannes' story because I felt hugged while I read. Their relationship was good, uplifting, funny, sexy... Their complicity hit me hard and I asked for more. This is what dating someone should feel like: better than you were before this person. Honestly, I'm struck and definitely will be picking up more books from this author! If you like contemporary romances, steamy scenes, a cupcake boy and a bossy girl, all wrapped in Amsterdam, this book is for you too! Fun fact: some weeks ago, Amy offered in her newsletter to donate some first edition copies of her books, with the old covers, to any reader who was willing to pay shipping expanses. I was one of the people who reached out to her and I can't thank Amy enough for her troubles, as she sent me her book all the way from New Zealand to Brazil! She even signed it, I almost cried when I received it! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! <3 I'll forever treasure my copy of "What's Dutch for Damn?"!!”
“This is the story about a couple, Kate and Johannes, they started meeting just casually, after a friend in common set them together. Kate lives in London, Johannes lives in Amsterdam, so they don’t have real hope in this relationship progress but, of course that things get more serious, because they really hit it off. I liked this couple, they have good chemistry, but what I liked the most in this book was Johannes’s arc. I enjoyed everything about his family business, fixing bicycles, and he seemed much more committed with Kate. The parts of London’s life and Kate’s colleagues were a bit boring, but every time they met the story became exciting again. This is a fun romance full of spice. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.”
