Wedding Cakes and Wakes
ByPublisher Description
Wedding bells, wayward sisters, and one very unusual wake...
Private investigator Ev Delafose has her hands full in the quaint Southern village of Graisseville, Louisiana. As the proud "best man-person" for Shorty and Annabelle's wedding, she's determined to pull off the perfect small-town celebration—including tracking down the elusive groom's cake recipe.
As usual, things start to get complicated. A beloved local's funeral is scheduled for the same time as the wedding, and a group of disgruntled single ladies decide to protest the nuptials. Then her little sister Mad blows into town with a charming new boyfriend in tow. Now Ev really has her hands full.
Chaos brews and secrets simmer while Ev juggles wedding preparations, scheduling nightmares, and a mysterious threat that looms a little too close to home. Can she keep the peace in Graisseville, serve up a successful wedding, and still find the right cake to bake—before the big day devolves into full-blown bedlam? Or will Mad's dramatic reappearance stir up more trouble for the village than even a practiced PI can solve?
A warm and witty cozy mystery full of heart, hijinks, and sisterly shenanigans, Wedding Cakes and Wakes is Book 6 of the Small Town Girl Mystery series.

Jann Franklin lives in the small town of Grand Cane, Louisiana. Over three hundred other people also live in Grand Cane, and many of Jann’s chapters came from her weekly visits at the downtown coffee shop. She would like it on the record that Grand Cane’s current mayor and aldermen are nothing like the characters in her book. They are definitely larger than life, but in a good way.
She and her husband John enjoy Sundays at Grand Cane Baptist Church, dinner with family and friends, and watching the lightning bugs in their backyard. Their kids come to visit, when they aren’t too busy living their big-city lives.
She graduated from high school in Russellville, another small town in Arkansas. She obtained her accounting degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and moved to Dallas in 1989. She still dabbles in accounting but has taken up writing to satisfy her creative side. Like Jen Guidry, she never appreciated her small-town upbringing until she was encouraged to move back to one. Now she cannot imagine living any other way.
If you ever make it to Grand Cane, stop by 4C Coffee Shop and say “hi.” Rhonda Cox and her employees make amazing coffee, and they will save a seat and a smile for you.
