“I was hoping this would be an underrated gem, and I can see how it might be for some people, but it just wasn't anything special for me.
I was excited to read this because of the weather themes, which had me expecting storm-chasing and romantic scenes of getting caught in the rain, and poetic weather metaphors about the beauty of life. But this book wasn't any of that. With the whole matchmaking plot, I expected this to be full of hilarious hijinks that would make me laugh out loud. But there was just no spark or charm here. It was very ho-hum the whole way through.
The broken arm situation felt like an unnecessary plot device that added nothing to the story other than to be useful for one scene, and since the MC isn't even known for being clumsy, it felt very random. And the third-act breakup was pointless self-sabotage that the MC created over absolutely nothing. I get that it was their depression that made them do it, but it could have happened in a more triggering situation.
Overall it wasn't a bad read, but I just found it boring and sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations.”
