By Stacia Stark
We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Instant New York Times Bestseller!
From the bestselling author of the Kingdom of Lies series comes a slow-burn romantasy set in a Roman-inspired world ruled by merciless vampires. Filled with breathtaking combat, vengeful gods, and magical creatures, We Who Will Die is the epic first installment in an enthralling new series perfect for fans of Carissa Broadbent, Jasmine Mas, and Rebecca Yarros.

Life in the perilous Thorn district is a constant battle for Arvelle and her younger brothers. And the vampire standing on her doorstep is about to turn their world upside down.
Faced with an unthinkable choice, Arvelle makes a magically binding vow to do the impossible: kill the emperor, an ancient vampire created by the god Umbros. But first, she must enter the Sundering—an arena where only the fastest, strongest, and deadliest survive long enough to be selected for the emperor’s elite guard.
She quickly draws the ire of the Primus, the powerful figure charged with protecting the emperor. But the vampire under the armor is the last person Arvelle expects to encounter in the emperor’s court.
With her brothers’ lives in the balance, Arvelle has no choice but to ally with the man who once shattered her heart… and with the emperor’s sadistic son, Rorrik—two vampires whose motives are impossible to pin down. Rorrik holds the key to understanding the powers Arvelle is developing—abilities that would put a price on her head if discovered by the emperor.
To survive the arena and complete her mission, Arvelle must get to the bottom of a conspiracy that will change everything she thought she knew about herself—and the two vampires who are deeply entwined with her destiny…

We Who Will Die Reviews

“I LOVED THIS BOOK! Vampire Diaries with Gladiators and trials?! Yes please! This story was action packed with new twists and turns every chapter and I loved the pacing! The characters drew me in immediately and the progression of their dynamic became addicting! This romantasy had everything I want in a story and I CANNOT WAIT for book two! I will say there are a lot of character names and world building situations in the beginning that are better to be read than listened to in the audiobook like I had started with! I quickly moved to my kindle for this one!”
“Another thrilling story by Stacia Stark! Arvelle stressed me out big time throughout this whole book but it was so hard to put it down. Stacia created such an interesting world and I’m excited to learn more about it in the next book, especially more about the gods! Highly recommend 😁”
“If you love a romantasy and all the elements that are typical of the genre, you’ll love this book. It has its own twist on it and a love triangle that had me kicking my feet. The vibes are ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. For everyone comparing it to The Hunger Games/The Vampire Diaries but in gladiator form - you’re not wrong and I ate it up. (I even have a couple Twilight notes jotted down) Did I have issues with this book? Some. I felt like I was thrown into a world I was already supposed to understand and wish there was a little more world building/power explanation. But, did that ruin the plot? No. I had a fantastic time reading it (devouring it really). And it kept me thoroughly entertained, with quite a few *gasp* moments I didn’t see coming. Arvelle is a likeable FMC. She’s closed off for good reason, fiercely loyal to her family, and determined. Someone that you root for. Some obvious poor decision making but I blame that on the bond she had to make with Bran, who strong arms her into the arena. Tiernon (the only thing I clocked from the introduction of the Primus) is the MMC you want your daughters to end up with. I wish he had to have done a bit more groveling to get back into her good graces, but he’s strong, loyal, and kind. Rorrik is the MMC that you’re kicking your feet over and saying “I want that one”. I mean, he kneels for her after she says “beg” *swoon* I’m not sure how this dynamic is going to work out (please pick a team) but I can’t wait to find out.”
