Waterspell: The Complete Series (Boxed Set: Books 1-4)
ByPublisher Description
Making a place for yourself in a world where you don't belong takes courage.
So does moving in with a warlock. Especially one who is a cauldron of seething anger on his worst days … half mad on his best … who is thinking, perhaps, of killing you. And you can almost understand why he would do it. But you'll fight to stay alive. Because maybe—just maybe—you've found the place where you belong: On his world, in his magic, saving the warlock from himself.
Waterspell (Books 1–4) tells the story of the lost traveler Carin, who is drawn into the schemes of a hot-tempered, emotionally damaged wizard. Does he view her as nothing more than an expendable weapon in his fight to save his world from lethal alien plagues? Or will Lord Verek find himself wavering, when it comes time to dispose of his fiery water-sylph?
With elements of eco-fantasy, mystery, a little slow-burning romance, and dark dystopian undercurrents, Waterspell is a cross-genre story with too many layers for a single label. Intricate plot twists and compelling characters weave a tale of redemption and belonging, in a gripping saga that will captivate lovers of immersive storytelling.
"A marvelously complex and captivating fantasy series." —The Published Page

About Deborah J. Lightfoot
Deborah J. Lightfoot, a native of West Texas, got her love of history from her grandfather, a High Plains cowboy. From her mother, an artist and avid reader, came her love of books and all things mysterious and magical. Dark horsemen entered her imagination through such early influences as the television show Have Gun Will Travel, in which Richard Boone's Paladin was "a knight without armor in a savage land." Small matter that the sophisticated Paladin wielded a six-shooter instead of a sword.
Six-shooters figure in Lightfoot's award-winning books of Western history and biography, The LH7 Ranch and Trail Fever. Swords and sorcery provide the action in her epic fantasy series, Waterspell, a six-book saga with medieval overtones and historical background. Adverse Reactions, a Western/paranormal/fantasy blend, brings together her various interests in a cross-genre work of dystopian speculative fiction.
With a journalism degree summa cum laude from Texas A&M University, Lightfoot has worked on both sides of the editorial desk for periodical and book publishers. She has taught creative writing at the college level and won numerous writing awards. She's a professional member of The Authors Guild and still lives in rural Texas.
