Vintage Trailers and Blackmailers by Heather Weidner digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

There is nothing like finding a dead body, clad only in a red satin thong, on your property to jolt you from a quiet routine. Jules Keene, owner of the posh Fern Valley Camping Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is thrust into the world of the Dark Web when one of her guests, Ira Perkins, is found murdered in the woods near her vintage trailers. Jules quickly discovers that the man who claimed to be on a writing retreat was not what he seemed, and someone will go to any length to find what he left at her resort. Jules, along with her Jack Russell Terrier sidekick Bijou, has to put the rest of the missing pieces of a blackmailing scheme together before her business is ruined.

Jules's resort, set in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville in the quaint town of Fern Valley, offers guests a unique vacation in refurbished and upcycled vintage trailers. Hoping to expand her offerings, she partners with her maintenance/security guy to create a village of tiny houses, the latest home DIY craze, but a second murder of a reporter interrupts Jules's expansion plans. Curiosity gets the best of her, and she steps up her sleuthing to find out what Ira Perkins was really up to and what he was really hiding at her resort.

“First in a series which was a fun, enjoyable start. I’ll continue with the series.”
“Vintage Trailers and Blackmailers is book one in Heather Weidner’s A Jules Keene Glamping Mystery series. This cozy mystery novel takes place in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains outside Charlottesville in a small town by the name of Fern Valley. Jules Keene runs a glamping resort that hosts everyone from individuals simply looking to get away for weekend, to families looking to have a safe and wholesome outdoors experience without all the chaos of actual camping. Business is going good for Jules, but things might be taking a sour turn when one of her customers turns up dead in the woods. Usually death is the final end, but with the death of Ira Perkins he brings a lot of chaos and trouble to Jules’s doorstep. Vintage Trailers and Blackmailers is the first book that I have read by Heather Weidner, but this book is absolute winner. This book is a work of fiction, but you’d almost believe you could go to Fern Valley and meet them for real. The author packs this story with mischief, thrills, mystery, some hits at romance, and tons of chaos. Regardless of a death at the resort, Jules has a business to run, and customers to take care of. She does a pretty good job sleuthing and somehow balancing everything that is going on. Especially when chaos keeps popping up in some form or another over the passing days. As an amateur sleuth, Jules makes quite a few mistakes, but she is like a dog with a bone. She’s not letting up until she solves this twisted web of a mystery left behind after Ira’s death. There is so much to enjoy in this novel. From the relationships, the characters have towards each other and their customers, to the multi-layered mystery and all the pieces that go with it. You get not just one murder, but two! There is quite a bit of chaos that goes in this book, but not everything can be laid at the feet of Ira or those who bring trouble to Fern Valley. There is some homegrown drama, too that plays into things. The author answers most of my questions by the end of this book, but there are some lingering ones. Regardless I can’t wait to read more of Jules and those around her. There is a lot to look forward to and I hope I don’t have to wait long. I’m rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. If you love cozy mystery novels and/or are looking for a new series to check out, don’t miss this book.”
