“Well, this was a rather shockingly dark story. Not for the weak of stomach, but as the blurb describes "an America that has bowed down to guns." Bennett paints a brutal picture of an America that is hanging by a thread. Leaning heavily on what some might call a "liberal nightmare," the idea of a show that manufacturers mass shootings for entertainment is incredibly topical. Yet, it works and if nothing else leaves us wanting a better world. The Mcguffin towords the end as well as the simplistic nature of this novella being more in the genre of parable, weakens the impact beyond the sheer shock value. It still serves as an interesting thought experience.”
