“I really liked this anthology! A lot of the stories were really good and really touched me emotionally. #1 Never Have I Ever- Karen M McManus ⭐⭐ (2 stars) I did not like this one. The first 3 quarters of it where mediocre at best and just seemed very basic and then the plot twist was really stupid and just felt like the author was trying to make up for how crappy the story was. I saw someone say that this story was a good intro for the book in the sense that it subverts your expectations and while I agree with that I also don't think and tropes were subverted. This story was just very basic and didn't have anything interesting in it. #2 Like Before- Maureen Goo ⭐⭐⭐ (2.5 stars This one was fine. I liked the ending and how nothing was really resolved. I don't really care about the characters or the story though. It was fine. #3 Old Rifts and Snowdrifts- Kayla Whaley ⭐⭐⭐ (2.5 Stars) While I liked the characters more, this one was a lot more difficult to get through. The entire conflict between the characters that had made them not speak for a year was just a misunderstanding and that felt really boring. It was just not it for me. #4 Con Nights, Parallel Hearts- Marieke Nijkamp ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars) This was so good in every way. I loved the time changing element and I loved how it portrayed fiction affecting reality in a positive light. It made me stare at a wall afterwards. I loved it. #5 Kiss the Boy- Amanda Joy ⭐⭐⭐ (3 stars) It was cute. I didn't really love this story but I also didn't hate it and had a decent time reading it #6 Creature Capture- Laura Silverman ⭐⭐⭐ (3 stars) I liked this one, it reminds me a little bit of the Ghost Of Goon Creek (the last story in this anthology). The setting and tone was very well established and I could picture everything very clearly. #7 Shark Bait- Tiffany D Jackson ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5 stars) So good. The main character was so well written and the story had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The ending was really interesting too. #8 A Place To Start- Nina LaCour ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars) I loved this one too! It was really cool to learn more about two people who barely knew each other and I really liked the premise. #9 When You Bring A Dog To Prom- Anna Meriano ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars) While I am completely over the miscommunication trope I feel like this one was done decently. The title really annoys me though. But overall it was really fun to read and I enjoyed the characters. #10 Missing- Kathleen Glasgow ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars) This one was so good. Seeing how differently all the older girls interacted with lissy was super interesting and told me lot about their characters. The author was able to have a larger cast in a short story without making anyone seem 1 dimensional. I really loved Angie and I hope she's doing ok. #11 What About Your Friends- Brandy Colbert ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars) This one was cool because it was set in college and I think it was nice break from the highschool stuff. I really liked the premise of a dancing marathon and how dancing brought two former friends back together. It was really fun to read. #12 Under Our Masks- Julian Winters ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5 stars) The vibes were so good in this. I really liked the characters and setting. The only thing I had problems with was the reveal because it felt like there wasn't a lot of build up and what happened after was kinda bland. But it was SO fun to read and I really want to check out more from this author. #13 The Ghost Of Goon Creek- Francesca Zappia ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5 stars) In this anthology we've seen a lot of the "oh popular people don't actually hate me because I'm weird, I'm just judgemental and never talk to anyone" trope in this anthology and while it's good the first time I was pretty done by the time I reached The Ghost of Goon Creek. I really liked the idea and the characters but I just wish it had been less focused on the MC and more about learning about the other characters. It just felt like the MC was pretty self centered and then realized that they were self centered but the story didn't actually change after the realization and it was still just focused on the MC. Overall these stories were super fun to read and might've gotten me out of my reading slump”
“All of these stories were really nice and reflective. I really enjoyed all of them and I would def buy this book to read again.”
