Unexpected (Sun Valley #1) by E.J. Blaise digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Whoever said college is the best time of your life is a big, fat liar.

Amelia Hanlon has worked hard to perfect her new life after tragedy destroyed her old one. When a single night ends her relationship and reunites her with the past she’s been running from for years, it’s all she can do not to panic as her world shatters around her.

Again.

Nicolas Silva is perfectly content with his bachelor lifestyle. Books, boxing, and nameless women warming his bed are all he cares about—until a red-haired wildfire waltzes into his life and burns everything he thought he knew to the ground.

He’s cocky, too handsome for his own good, and everything Amelia does not need.

Or so she thought.

Loudly Crying Face“This one might throw me into a bit of a slump. While it’s technically a HEA, the ending is quite sad??? Happy sad?? I dunno, but I’m still crying. This is a pretty long book, especially for a contemporary romance. To be honest, when I was like 60% in I started to worry that it was going to feel like it was dragging on. I thought it was going to feel to repetitive. But honestly, the more I thought about the characters (especially the FMC) and their situations, the more I understood the kind of… loop… they were in. I felt like we really got a very realistic depiction of abuse and abusive relationships. FMC had SO much trauma from 3 different situations— there’s no way that girl would not have hang-ups. I liked that we saw how slow and tedious SLIGHT change was for her. I just really liked the whole journey, even if it took me a while to fully appreciate. This book is heavy. Maybe look up TWs before reading. Audiobook dual narration by Avery Caris and Victor Quixabas was SO good. They both gave awesome performances that totally tugged at my emotions. Going to have to look up what other work they’ve done.”
“3.5 stars ⭐️!! This book was definitely longer than it needed to be, the author could’ve shaved off at least 50-100 pages in my opinion. I did enjoy the book overall! There were minor things that didn’t make sense, like the mmc, Nick, having a naked picture of the fmc, Amelia, in his wallet..? It just did not fit his character at all. A cute off guard of her or even just her simply smiling at the camera would’ve made more sense. Amelia did annoy me a few times, but she went through so much that it was hard to stay mad when she did something dumb or repetitive. My main issue was how long they waited to tell Amelia’s brother and Nick’s best friend, Cass, about them dating. Super drawn out for no reason. It felt like the author had a certain word count that she just HAD to hit? Anyways, I did like it, it made me super emotional toward the end. Can’t wait to read another book in the series!”
“I loved the story really this couple was sooo cute good read”
