“I knew I wanted to read an Amish romance, but I was on the fence about which one. I pre-ordered this book because it's beautiful cover, and because in the past I had read and enjoyed Patricia's books. From the moment I started reading, I was hooked by the rich portrayal of Amish culture and faith. I realized there was so much about their faith that I did not know. Patricia has this amazing way of weaving in all the details that really respect and honor Amish traditions, and still bringing you along on this romance that truly captures your heart. I loved it! The romance is definitely a slow burn, but honestly, that just made it feel more real. It lets you dive deep into the customs and values that shape the characters’ lives. And you begin to understand why the romance couldn't unfold quickly and why it had to be in the background. You really start to feel their beliefs, which makes every moment in the story that much more meaningful. When Penelope is sent on a business trip to a small town in Montana to sell a franchising opportunity to the B&B owner Simon, she doesn't know what to expect. First, she wasn't expecting the business owner to be Amish. She wasn't expecting to meet Sarah, her long lost twin sister, seperated by birth, since they were adopted. And lastly, she wasn't expecting to never want to leave this community. It is an Amish community, and she is far from Amish, and very far from her faith in God. And yet, she has always felt she was missing something in her life, and for the first time she feels it may be found here? Or is what she is missing God? The more time she spends here, the more she feels at home. But she forgets, she is living a lie in front of all her new friends. They believe she is just a traveling artist, they have no idea she is really here to try to make the B&B owner Simon join her employers franchise. She doesn't want to continue to lie, but she also can not risk this business opportunity. And as her new found faith is starting make her question everything, she doesn't know where to turn, but God. The more Penelope works along side Simon the more she feels pulled to this community, not just because Sarah her sister, or the community that is welcoming to her, but also to the man that she feels a distinct pull to want to never leave. But Simon has been baptized in the faith, and she is not. They both are well aware that there is no future for them, making them have to push back those feelings, but for how long? If she acts on her feelings for Simon it would cause shame to her, her sister, Simon and the community. If Simon acted on his feelings for her, he would be shunned. So much is up in the air... all one can do is hand it all over to God. And that is what they will all do. This story was such a refreshing read. I am such a romantic at heart that I expected to feel a bit put off with the romance taking a second seat to the new found sister, and the new found faith for Penelope. But truthfully I learned so much about their community, their faith and bible teachings I felt myself wanting to experience more. There are times I even wondered could I visit a place like their Amish community and what would that teach me. Perhaps thats what I experience when I read these books. They take me to a place I can not be in real life, but I travel there in spirit and I walk away forever changed. Thank you Patrice for writing a story that not only entertained me, but opened my heart to a knew found desire for more closeness with God and his community of believers.”
