“I was not expecting to love this book so much. Vivian constantly pissed me off. I think a huge reason I loved this book is because during my childhood, my dad was the one who primarily took care of me and my siblings and I spent my teen years being raised by him.”
“I think most of my issue with the way this book was written might be due to me listening to it vs reading it. The book came across as a person’s memoir, not a novel. The main character Russ is fine, but the soon to be ex wife is a mess. The author has her acting one way in one scene, and a completely different way in another scene. We get a house wife who just suddenly up and changes her priorities and life within days, but there’s not really reasons shared as to why. The audiobook had really random bursts of horrible music fading in and out, starting at more than half the way through the book. Multiple times I paused listening as I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. It also was louder than the author reading, so you couldn’t hear what he was saying. Overall, not a fan of the book but it could have been great if there were a few tweaks.”
