Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox

By FORTHRIGHT
Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox by FORTHRIGHT digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Tsumiko inherits an ancestral home, a vast fortune, and a butler who isn’t exactly human.

Humanity is rocked by the Emergence of a people who call themselves the Amaranthine. They are our myths and legends come to life. Neither human nor animal, yet embracing qualities of both, the inhuman races inspire both awe and fear. Every newsfeed is clogged with updates about the peace process, but some places don’t concern themselves with worldly affairs. Like the girls’ school run by Saint Midori’s of the Heavenly Lights, where Tsumiko Hajime grew up.

A letter from a long-lost aunt names Tsumiko heiress to an ancestral estate and its accompanying fortune. Only the legacy comes with an aloof heirloom: an inhuman butler. Argent has served the Hajime family for centuries, and Tsumiko must renew the generational bond or he’ll die. Argent hates her for the hold she has over him, but he craves her soul almost as much as he craves his freedom.

Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox Reviews

3.5
“I would label this book as mostly a cozy fantasy with a few darker twists. The love between Argent and Tsumiko is pretty instant, though they both deny it for a little bit. I found this world both refreshing and interesting- even a little nostalgic since it reminded me of some manga and anime I would consume when I was younger- which from what I hear, this story was inspired by that type of media. A fun, sweet tale with some bittersweet moments.”
“Love love love”
Rolling on the Floor Laughing Face“I must clarify!! I personally LOVED this book, but since I know my ratings will be added to the overall rating of this book, I had to be a little realistic! This book in my own opinion is a good book! If you’re looking for a book that feels like your watching an anime, or reading an ao3 fic than THIS is your book!! It’s got some clever world building, it’s funny, there’s a lot of classic cliches in it, like the servant dynamic, the fox tsundere, forced proximity, magical world, and the main character being the “chosen” one in a sense. I personally love that, but if you’re looking for a whimsical, ground breaking, fantasy, unique book that DOESNT feel like you’re watching an anime- then I wouldn’t recommend this book. HOWEVER!! Again, I’m a huge fan of the book, and there are SEVEN more to this series, so I’ll of course be reading the rest of them!”
