By Michael Crichton
Travels by Michael Crichton digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

From the bestselling author of Jurassic ParkTimeline, and Sphere comes a deeply personal memoir full of fascinating adventures as he travels everywhere from the Mayan pyramids to Kilimanjaro.

Fueled by a powerful curiosity—and by a need to see, feel, and hear, firsthand and close-up—Michael Crichton's journeys have carried him into worlds diverse and compelling—swimming with mud sharks in Tahiti, tracking wild animals through the jungle of Rwanda. This is a record of those travels—an exhilarating quest across the familiar and exotic frontiers of the outer world, a determined odyssey into the unfathomable, spiritual depths of the inner world. It is an adventure of risk and rejuvenation, terror and wonder, as exciting as Michael Crichton's many masterful and widely heralded works of fiction.

Travels Reviews

3.5
“A pleasurable read on a broad swath of topics. A horrifying and fascinating look into the 1960s medical institution. An incredibly well-written, easily digestible inside look at Mr. Crichton’s mind and experiences of many subjects, some humorous, some acutely uncomfortable and sickening. A very interesting experiential reflection of gender politics of the 80s. Honest, brief, and rich—just like the humanity it reflects. Just as enjoyable on an anecdotal level as on a psychological one. I look forward to reading it again.”
“Crichton's writing in this personal memoir reiterates him as one of my all time favorite authors. His description of his personal experiences are eye-opening and forever entertaining with his analogies and his vast, colorfully assorted knowledge of medicine, travel, way of living and nature. His past work is to be marveled but his personal life enhances it all the more and you get a more descriptive depth into the mindset he was in during the time he writes his other pieces. Worth the read, interesting point of view and appreciative of his take on his more final beliefs.”
“Interesting book. It was very difficult for me to get through it. It started out very interesting with several case studies from when Crichton was a medical doctor. However I found it harder and harder to continue reading with interest.”
