Publisher Description

The latest charming, smart contemporary realistic romance from the New York Times bestselling author of 99 Days, Fireworks, and How to Love. Perfect for fans of Julie Murphy and Becky Albertalli.

Ryan McCullough and Gabby Hart are the unlikeliest of best friends. Prickly, anxious Gabby would rather do literally anything than go to a party. Ultra-popular Ryan is a hockey star who can get any girl he wants—and frequently does.

But somehow their relationship just works; from dorky Monopoly nights to rowdy house parties to the top ten lists they make about everything under the sun.

Now, on the night of high school graduation, everything is suddenly changing—in their lives, and in their relationship. As they try to figure out what they mean to each other and where to go from here, they make a final top ten list: this time, counting down the top ten moments of their friendship.

Expressionless Face“I thought it was a lovely story about these two unlikely friends reminiscing the top ten important events of their friendship. Obviously, I was disappointed that the main characters don't end up together, but I never got the sense that the book was about the romance between Gabby and Ryan. It was about them growing up and facing some difficult choices; Ryan finally coming to terms with his post-concussion brain and Gabby with her anxiety. Though maybe, in the future there will be an opportunity to be together. However, they both have some issues they have to deal with and some growing up to do. I wanted to like this book a lot more, however there were a few things that I just couldn't get over. I wasn't crazy about the timeline of the book. There were moments I couldn't tell in what order the events were being told and it made it a bit confusing. Another gripe I had was that Gabby would sometimes annoy me. It just seemed like she wasn't being a good friend. Lastly, even though the story is based around this "strong and supportive friendship", I often got this feeling that it was actually a toxic one. The constant fighting between Gabby and Ryan that didn't really resolve anything and one fight even left them not talking for months. Overall, it was just an okay book, but it won't be making my Top Ten book list anytime soon.”
