Thinking Face“The stores in the anthology are very varied – but that also means they are very uneven. A few great ones, but also some dreadfully unengaging (at least for me) time-stealers 😕. A danger of putting together an anthology with no central theme, I guess. I really liked the titular story set in the Old Kingdom, the fairytale with the scary unicorn, the one with the school for witches, the sci-fi vampire hunters, the Robin Hood meets king Arthur retelling, and the Sherlock Holmes-adjacent Cthulhu thingy. The rest were either just decent or completely meh. 6 gems among about 19 duds. It deserves 3 stars for that, but barely.”
Thumbs Up“Mixed bag of very good stories, and some just okay ones. Overall this is just fine!”
Thinking Face“A brilliant diverse short story collection by an incredibly imaginative author, I don’t think there was a single story I did not enjoy.”
