Time Siege Reviews

3.5
“Not for me, especially since I didn’t realize until the end that this should’ve been a trilogy. By half-way through I was bored enough that I started to skip some of the more descriptive sentences since that’s not what I read for. This writing style didn’t work for me. I always felt distanced from the characters and this books specifically had middle book syndrome with all of the main characters kept apart from each other for most of the book. Without interesting relationships between characters it had nothing to offer me. At this point if a third book were to come out I don’t think I’d read it.”
“3.5 Another Wesley Chu series in the bag. Although, this one ended on such a cliffhangar, that I fill slightly jilted and unsatisfied. Time Siege picks up a few months after the fallout of Time Salvager. James, Elise, and the Elfreth are trying to figure out their next move. However, not everybody is in full form. Time Siege sees almost every characters dealing with their own demons. Honestly, this is where Chu shined. The character arcs that really drove this story were so heart breaking and eye-opening. James in particular had one of the best arcs and Chu executed it extremely well. Other aspects of this story were fine. I do feel, like with Time Salvager, I didn't get enough time travel to satisfy my fix. Again, for being a series that has a heavy focus on the ramifications of time travel, it just wasn't enough. Also, there were many grammatical errors in this book, enough to give me pause while reading. Not sure if everyone was affected by this, but I sure was. All in all, this series was fun for what it was, but Tao and Io still reign supreme for me, out of all Chu's works so far. I have a feeling though that the War Arts series is going to be epic and really take Chu's writing prowess to new levels.”
“I'm assuming there was supposed to be a third book, because that ending??”
