Through Gates of Garnet and Gold

By Seanan McGuire
Through Gates of Garnet and Gold by Seanan McGuire digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

A fan-favorite character returns in this action-packed installment of the Hugo Award-winning Wayward Children series.

After Nancy was cast out of the Halls of the Dead and forced to enroll at Eleanor West's School for Wayward Children, she never believed she'd find her door again, and when she did, she didn't look back. She disappeared from the school to resume her place in the Halls, never intending to return.

Years have passed. A darkness has descended on the Halls, and the living statues who populate them are dying at the hands of the already dead. The Lord and Lady who rule the land are helpless to stop the slaughter, forcing Nancy to leave the Halls again, this time on purpose, as she attempts to seek much-needed help from her former schoolmates.

But who would volunteer to quest in a world where the dead roam freely?

And why are the dead so intent on adding to their number?

At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

Through Gates of Garnet and Gold Reviews

4.5
“You can’t move forward by standing still. Nancy is enjoying her life as statue in the world of the dead. Until a squirrel of angry ghosts began devouring the statues one by one. She sent back to a New World to find help and recruits her old classmates. Upon returning to her world, they discover the vengeful ghosts are none other than someone they all know. These books continue to be whimsical and fun while still in party life lessons.”
Loudly Crying Face“The latest in the Wayward Children series may just be the best one yet. As someone who read all of the books in this series earlier this year and prefers the quest stories (except for Antsy), I was left feeling very nostalgic for these characters. Nancy was a standout character for me, even in the first book. I thought she was so interesting and that didn’t change in this story. I loved that we got to see all of the other characters and got to know another new friend. I’m now hoping for an initial door story for Thalia, her moth world sounded very intriguing. The imagery in this series is gorgeous, this one is no exception with pomegranate groves and sugar cubes, human statues, and haunted hallways. Perfect spooky season book and a perfect read all around. Thank you to Netgalley and Tor Publishing for an early copy of this book to share my unbiased review.”
