Someone wants to murder Princess Melilot. This is sadly normal.
Melilot is sick of being ordered to go on dangerous quests by her domineering stepmother. Especially since she always winds up needing to be rescued by her more magically talented stepsisters. And now, she's been commanded to marry a king she’s never met.
When hideous spider-wolves attack her on the journey to meet her husband-to-be, she is once again rescued—but this time, by twelve eerily similar-looking masked huntsmen. Soon she has to contend with near-constant attempts on her life, a talking lion that sets bewildering gender tests, and a king who can't recognize his true love when she puts on a pair of trousers. And all the while, she has to fight her growing attraction to not only one of the huntsmen, but also her fiancé’s extremely attractive sister.
If Melilot can't unravel the mysteries and rescue herself from peril, kingdoms will fall. Worse, she could end up married to someone she doesn’t love.

“There were a lot of fun things happening in this story! I loved the Easter eggs of different fairytale lore peppered throughout. As a fan of East/the original fairytale, I enjoyed the references to a land east of the Sun and west of the moon.
I grew a little tired of the writing style, if I’m being honest. One too many quips took away from the action.”“I had a great time, audiobook narrator was 10/10”
“This was a fun, easy read. It was witty, it had humor, and the characters were all likable, and I enjoyed the twist on the 12 huntsmen tale, as well as the fact that several other fairy tales were seamlessly woven into the story without feeling out of place. It was fun picking up on the others and being like yeah I know that one!! I enjoyed Melilot as a FMC, she was a hot mess, and most of the time had no clue what she was doing, but she always pulled through and didn’t give up. I liked her and her sister’s dynamics, and the huntsman were creative and funny as well. Really loved Sam, and I liked that his character was woven into the story with no problem. It was just accepted and that was that. Overall, it was a lovely palette cleanser from some of the heavier hitting books I’ve been reading!”
