This is Not a Vampire Story by Simon Doyle digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Seventeen-year-old Victor Callahan holds a secret as ancient as the shadows.

Employed as a night porter in a quiet Irish nursing home, the teenager watches over a group of men he once knew a long time ago. Victor has orchestrated their reunion for a final farewell, a goodbye to those whose lives have shaped him through the years.

But can he keep his secret from Lakeshore Manor's oldest resident, James O'Carroll?

As he cares for these remnants of his past, memories of a bygone era haunt him — of wild adventures on the rugged Irish coast, of forbidden love hidden beneath the threat of eternal night, and of a shipwreck that changes everything…

Gloria Pinto, the night nurse, doesn't like him. But maybe she has her own secrets.

THIS IS NOT A VAMPIRE STORY weaves a tale of timeless bonds, the cost of immortality, and the lengths we go to for love.

But is love more important than life? Victor is about to find out.

“Wow. What a read. this book has made me feel all the feels possible and a few more. I'm kinda speechless en verdad. I was listening to a song the other day, "Anything for Love" by Dua Lipa, and it felt so fitting to the theme of this book. There are some loves that stay with you forever, that occupy a space in your brain and in your heart and make it impossible to go on without them. I feel like that was what this novel was all about, the love that you never forget, the one that you always come back to and can't live without. i know it sounds kinda toxic but it wasn't. In this story, they both loved each-other and wanted to stay together but couldn't. Life got in the way and complicated things for everyone so that they couldn't only say good bye 50 years later. It's romantic but frustrating if you ask me. Este libro fue una exploración del envejecimiento, del significado de juventud y el sentido de la vida. Es común escuchar que el punto de estar vivo es amar y yo siento que sobre eso fue que el autor trató de construir la historia. El punto de la vida es el amor y sin amor no hay vida. Me hubiese gustado que otros amores tomaran el centro en la historia. La mamá de Victor definitivamente se merecía mejor que lo que consiguió and that saddens me. She gave up everything for her kid and kept giving him everything and anything she could so as to help him overcome every obstacle that life thew his way. I would have loved to see him appreciate that more. But i understand that James became his whole world and so everything he did revolved around him. I'm rambling. Point is, this was a really good book and i would totally recommend it to anyone who is not daunted by a sad ending to a romantic story.”
“I’d give this a solid 4.5/5 tbh. Beautifully written.”
