“This was mid, it just felt weird and off in a few ways. The use of unsolved recent crimes wasn’t well done, it felt patchy and kind of random. Her big desire to memorialize her father felt out of place in this book and storyline. I think the author should have chosen a different genre to honor her dad’s memory with, it just didn’t flow for me. It was a decent book to have in the background as I was doing other things but it’s not necessarily one I would recommend.”

“I really wanted to love This Book Will Bury Me, but it didn’t quite land for me. I suspected the killer pretty early on, which took a lot of the suspense out of the story. It also felt quite drawn out at times, with the pacing dragging more than I expected from a thriller.
I absolutely loved In My Dreams I Hold a Knife, but sadly, I’ve found Ashley Winstead’s other books haven’t quite lived up to that one—and this was no exception. What really put me off was how heavily the plot seemed to borrow from recent real-life murders. It felt a bit too close to reality in a way that didn’t sit right with me, especially when the story could have easily stood on its own with some thoughtful changes to those elements. There’s definitely talent in Winstead’s writing, but this one just missed the mark for me.”
