“Beautiful story. I wasn’t sure how much I was really liking this book until the ending, the end really changed everything 🥺 I was definitely surprised and touched. Going back and forth between 4-5 ⭐️, I really enjoyed some of the characters and conversations but unfortunately didn’t feel super connected to the story until the end, so I feel like I can’t give a full 5 stars.

But I can’t get over the choice of theo’s cause of death. I think it would have been more emotionally impactful if he died honestly any other way, it just seemed very random and unnecessary”

An accident caused by an “illegal”? A highly successful woman embarrassed that she wants to be a housewife and ashamed of having an abortion years ago? (absolutely valid takes for a woman to have, but knowing it’s written by a Christian man? Ew. Also choosing to stay at home can also be feminist because it’s about the choice) The author making a point to have Tony call out Theo for believing in heaven? I’m sure it’s happened, but it seems far fetched and like a set up for a sermon later on. I’m good.”
“I am generally a fan of literary fiction, though not without a plot. This booked dragged on. Of course the MC is a “good”person but I felt he knew that so it felt a bit pretentious. I’m not mad about a book highlighting kindness but it made it feel very inauthentic in that way. Had higher expectations and was expecting to cry, which I did not”
