“Widowed, single mother, Ava Jane Graber, can’t believe her eyes when she sees that her first love has returned to Lancaster county. Years ago, Jeremiah did the unthinkable when he left the Amish faith, and Ava Jane, behind to become a Navy SEAL. The prodigal hero has returned home seeking redemption from his community, his family, and the woman who still holds his heart, and now his ultimate mission is to become Ava Jane’s husband. But, can he prove to her that he’s really home for good ? Can Ava Jane overcome the pain she felt when he left her behind and give Jeremiah a second chance?
This was such a sweet, simple story and I enjoyed it a great deal. I’ve read some of Lenora Worth’s other books and know that she’s a wonderful storyteller. And I really love reading stories about the Amish, so when I saw that Lenora had written an Amish story, I was excited about getting to read it. I can honestly say that it lived up to my expectations. Lenora has a real gift for telling a story in a way that it plays perfectly in your mind. Couple that with the amazing ability to write dynamic, well developed characters, that you’d genuinely like to know, and it’s a winning combination. This particular story revolves a lot about the importance of being able to forgive others, as well as yourself, and the necessity of second chances. It’s not always easy to let go of the pain that someone else may have caused us and to truly forgive them, but it’s such a necessary part of our Christian walk, because Jesus brings us true forgiveness and salvation. It’s also important to forgive because, until we’ve done so, we can never fully move on with our lives. Sometimes, the hardest person to forgive is ourselves; it’s so easy to hold onto the things that we’ve done wrong, the areas we’ve failed. But all that does is keep us from being able to fully serve a God today. He doesn’t want us to stay miserable because of our pasts. He’s already forgiven us, so why wouldn’t we do the same? I love stories that talk about forgiveness and the prodigal son, as I know it brings much joy to God when one of His children returns to their faith in Him.”
