“Ughhhh…this is my 7th Coben book, and my last book of May and MY GAWD I was hoping it would snap my recent reading slump. But it let me down 😭 the lowest I’ve ever rated a Harlan Coben book. The MMC Paul ‘Cort’ Cortland was one of the most unlikable characters I’ve read this year. I’m unsure if that was intentional or if his double-standard lack of character and constant misogynistic commentary about every female character was just too much for my brain to handle today. When Hester Crimstein was casually mentioned (a longstanding reoccurring character) I got super excited and looked forward to reading her snark - love her so much! If you’re a diehard Coben fan like me, you may as well read this one, but I’m not going to recommend it to a first timer. He has much better books out there.”
