“A really great book, an epic about six men who were involved in the creation of the world order after World War 2. Rebuilding Europe with the Marshall plan, the Berlin airlift and the Korean War are all part of this saga. If you are interested in the history of modern diplomacy this is a good place to start. it's also a biography of the men involved chiefly Kennan, Acheson, Bohlen, Lovett, Harriman and McCloy. How they worked and struggled to formulate a western buttress against the advances of Soviet Russia. I can't recommend this book enough especially these days when the only foreign policy seems to be to destroy the existing western order.”
