The Winter Soldier: Cold Front (Marvel Rebels & Renegades)
ByPublisher Description
1954: The Winter Soldier is the Soviet Union’s greatest weapon. Assigned the most dangerous covert missions from the USSR’s secret military branch, and guided by a handler who knows him better than he knows himself, he has only one purpose: to obey orders.
But he wasn’t always the Winter Soldier . . .
1941: As World War II begins, sixteen-yearold Bucky Barnes is determined to enlist in the US army—if only the local commander will stop getting in his way. When Bucky is offered enrollment in a training program with the British Special Operations Executive—the UK’s secret service—he leaps at the chance to become a hero. But Bucky has hardly touched down in London when he finds himself running from a mysterious assassin and accompanied by an English chess champion fond of red lipstick and double crosses. She’s in possession of a secret every side is desperate to get their hands on. If only they knew what it was . . .
Decades later, the Winter Soldier struggles to solve the same mystery Bucky is just beginning to uncover. As their missions intersect across time, their lives collide too—in a way that neither of them would have expected, and that will change the course of their respective wars.
In The Winter Soldier: Cold Front, on-sale on February 7, 2023, New York Times best-selling author Mackenzi Lee explores the youth of one of Marvel’s most compelling characters, James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes—and the enemy soldier he is forced to become.

“first off just wanna say i wish i wasn’t so busy because i really wanted to enjoy this in one sitting and take in this masterpiece instead of over the course of 8 days, but it’s fine.
So if you know me personally you know how much i love bucky and anything related to him or seabass and this is the closet thing i’m gonna get to a winter soldier origin story and i’ll take it in fact i loved this book..but we’re honestly not surprised.
i love how the author included the little voice in his head basically reminding him of who he is it was a really nice touch to his character development. Buckys story really gets me right here <3 just cuz it’s so heartbreaking to see how things turn out for him, my poor bucky:(.
I also loved how some things from the mcu are sorta included but i mainly liked how most of what was mentioned was in line with the comics, for instance his sister (alpine did not make an appearance unfortunately :c)
i’m not gonna shut up about the things i loved but also i loved how some things were different like the fact that this was told in different times from 17 year old bucky to 29 year old winter soldier.
i could talk about bucky for the rest of my life but i did also enjoy ginny’s character, she wasn’t that annoying love interest and was pretty independent and had bucky wrapped around her finger which was really cute too see. (slightly crying inside)
love Love LOVE this book 10/5 star read”
