The Whispering Night

By Susan Dennard
The Whispering Night by Susan Dennard digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

The forest is more dangerous than ever in this highly-anticipated, pulse-pounding, and swoon-worthy conclusion to the bestselling Luminaries trilogy.

Winnie Wednesday’s future is looking bright. Hemlock Falls is no longer hunting the werewolf, she and Erica Thursday are tentative friends, and Winnie finally knows exactly where she stands with Jay Friday.

With everything finally on track, Winnie is looking forward to the Nightmare Masquerade, a week-long celebration of all things Luminary. But as Luminaries from across the world flock to the small town, uninvited guests also arrive. Winnie is confronted by a masked Diana and charged with an impossible task—one that threatens everything and everyone Winnie loves.

As Winnie fights to stop new enemies before time runs out, old mysteries won't stop intruding. Her missing father is somehow entangled with her search for hidden witches, and as Winnie digs deeper into the long-standing war between the Luminaries and the Dianas, she discovers rifts within her own family she never could have imagined.

What does loyalty mean when family and enemies look the same?

The Whispering Night Reviews

“I have loved this series! At times I wasn’t a big fan of the FMC Winnie Wednesday. I found her a bit juvenile or slightly immature. But the plot and the forest were a lot of fun to explore. The nightmare compendium tips and tricks on the nightmares were the best part of this series! The only thing I am completely and utterly confused over is the pure heart all consuming nightmare at the end. The characters even said WTF just happened. And I couldn’t relate more to them at this very moment! WTF did just happen!!! I even went back and read it again and honestly I still have no idea. The story lost stars for that, there was soooo much build up for the “all consuming nightmare” to be stopped…. But it happened so easily but how?? Idk I’m just confused. Is anyone else confused as well?? Or just me??”
Rolling on the Floor Laughing Face“I love the way Winnie thinks. I enjoy reading her thought processes so much. Sad that they are no more books too read”
“This was a satisfying conclusion, to an overall enjoyable fantasy! I had higher hopes for this series, but I had fun reading it regardless. The characters actually showed some growth and had a good arc in this one, there were twists and turns to keep it interesting, and the stakes were heightened, but I also still needed MORE. The pacing was still a bit off, with a slow start and then the ending felt rushed. The loose ends were all tied up, but I feel like it could’ve been fleshed out more and not done so hastily. I also wanted more to happen once things were resolved, and to actually see the aftermath rather than just having it end where it did. I think there’s a lot to like about this series, especially the world its set in, but I just found it lacking in a lot of aspects and hoped it would get stronger with each book, and it just kind of stayed mid all the way throughout. I didn’t hate it, but I wouldn’t rave about it either.”
