THE TRICK TO TIME
ByPublisher Description
Some moments you want to last forever. Some moments shape a life.
For Mona, it's the joy of playing on a Wexford beach as a young girl, next to her family's cottage overlooking the Irish sea. The thrill of moving to Birmingham with a new job and a room of her own in a busy boarding-house. Meeting the love of her life; a whirlwind marriage; a sudden, tragic loss.
But now, decades later, Mona is determined to find happiness before it's too late. She knows that every moment is precious. But can we ever let go of the past that shaped us?

“I went into this book completely blind and I would recommend doing that. I picked this up as I saw the author on a TV event and felt the need to pick up every one of her books, although this is the first that I have read.
I was not expecting the punch to the heartstrings that was this book, and I loved every moment! The story is told over 2 time periods (which I love), where it follows Mona in present day, and then goes back in time through her childhood and marriage. The book moves from Ireland over to Birmingham, and looks at so many issues around marriage, grief, IRA and being Irish in England, mental health, and so many other things, and yet the book feels so seamless as it wove the 2 time periods together and gently revealed the purpose behind it.
Although this does almost feel like a hard hitting book, but it was also incredibly gentle and soft. It was so easy to read and I raced through it so quickly. It was really close to my coveted 5⭐️ review, but I am probably giving it a 4.5, but no matter what I highly recommend this for everyone.”
