The Three Cornered World
ByPublisher Description
The Three Cornered World is the novelistic expression of the contrast between the Western ethical view of reality and the Eastern ethical view by one of Japan's most beloved authors. Natsume Soseki tells of an artist who retreats to a country resort and becomes involved in a series of mysterious encounters with the owner's daughter. Intricately interwoven with the author's reflections on art and nature, conversations with Zen monks and writers of haiku, are a plethora of unique Japanese characters offering the reader an exquisite "word painting."

“An artist is nice but stop writing women as muses.
The book started with a strong 5 stars, beautifully written, picturesque and descriptive with interesting thought processes althpugh sometimes confusing. I was really liking it and then I became distant with what was happening, the moment O-Nami came into the picture in fact, I think she was so awfully written and so focused in her muse-like essence that it just threw me off of what I liked. Still an amazing read when it comes to artistic theories and concepts.”
