The Sword-Edged Blonde

By Alex Bledsoe
The Sword-Edged Blonde by Alex Bledsoe digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

It should have been a case like any other: a missing princess, a king willing to pay in gold for her return. But before he realizes it, sword jockey Eddie LaCrosse is swept up in a web of mystery and deceit involving a brutally murdered royal heir, a queen accused of an unspeakable crime, and the tragic past he thought he'd left behind.

In order to uncover the answers he seeks, Eddie must delve into the dark underbelly of society while digging deep into his own private history, drawing past and present together. Vast conspiracies, women both beautiful and deadly, and a centuries-old revenge scheme are only a few of the pieces in a lethal puzzle.

The Sword-Edged Blonde is a tour-de-force foray into a realm of action, intrigue, and murder.

“It was PERFECT! Perfect for me, of course. A neo-noir detective story in a fantastical setting. Just what I needed. این از اون کتابهایی بود که نباید از روی جلدش قضاوتشون کرد. من فکر میکردم یه داستان عامه پسند (کلمه مناسبی نیست ولی مترادف دیگه ای به ذهنم نمیرسه) قراره بخونم ولی یه نثر استادانه، یه داستان پرملات و یه غافلگیری خوشایند نصیبم شد.”

“Challenging, dark, emotional, mysterious, sad, and tense.  Medium-paced Plot- or character-driven? Plot Strong character development? Yes Loveable characters? It's complicated Diverse cast of characters? Yes Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes 3.0 ⭐ I enjoyed the book...and I will possibly continue with reading the next book, but something is wrong with the Fantasy genre in this story. The voice and worldbuilding seem like contemporary (or at least Western), but the things that actually happen are set in a Medieval setting, but the characters seem misplaced or cast.  Eddie LaCrosse seems like a western character. Also, there were times within the story...that mentioned technology...and it seemed SO odd to hear...for I was trying to wish my way into believing that this story was taking place in a Fantasy setting...and it wasn't working. Oh, I had tried to read this...but the problems mentioned above...forced me to DNF the book...while this time I pushed through. I like Eddie LaCrosse as a character, but feel like he is in ONE story...while most the rest of the cast are in ANOTHER story. I had fun, but there was always this question of WHY am I feeling this way? The solving of the mystery was fun. The magical-realism of some of the sequences was interesting...and the fairy type quality of other sequences make me feel like this is an OFF world story...with a mixing of genres. I don't mind that...but it is still a little unsettling if I'm being totally honest. I won't read the sequel straight-away, for I want this story to marinate for a while, but I will pick up the sequel, soon-ish. Promise.”
