“The Summer War as a unique quick read that is worth your time and money. It is a fairytale for adults, a love story worth telling.
Despite its short length, it shows exactly the wrongness of war, the feudal (and capitalist) system, the monarchy, marrying off children for power, and the all tired old ways of kingdoms and governments. This book showed exactly how the cycle of generational trauma and toxic traditions can be broken; how children notice and learn what is wrong and decide to go against it. It takes bravery, it takes guts, but like how fairytales end, it is worth the happy ever after.”
